Creating a life that works for you

Women in this industry(or any male-dominated industry, actually) absorb messages every damn day about the ultimate work/life balance and what it "should" look like.

What I've learned is that when you pay attention to where the "shoulds" are popping up, you can gain clear insight into what is and isn't working for you.

Here's where I'm at after 15 years of operating BMD.

Balance comes in many shapes and forms, and for me, time freedom is just as important as financial freedom.

I strive to create a life that allows me the flexibility to be adaptable. You know, when the shit hits the fan, and you have to pivot in a big way? Those times. This is where time freedom becomes so frickin valuable.

I want to attend the kiddo's activities, and I adore being home every day(or almost every day) for the after-school debrief. It's time that holds incredible value for me. I do everything possible to finish my day when she is.

Time freedom allows me space to make nourishing meals most evenings for our family to enjoy together. The laughter at the dinner table is an all-time favourite part of each day.

I also want my business to sufficiently provide for our household needs. I've been blessed with projects and clients who I adore working with. Starting BMD allowed me the opportunity to create unique homes for others as well as provide the financial freedom to explore my interests and desires outside of this career.

Your life may look completely different from mine, and I hope it does. Every person has an individual set of values and beliefs that shape their lives.

Women, we need to stop thinking we must organize our lives like someone else! We are the experts on what is most important to us. It's time we started tapping into our own innate wisdom and creating a life that works for each of us.

Full stop.

Are you with me??

 xoxo,
